Ali’s sister Behjat taught in a village school outside Isfahan. She would drive there in her Renault 5. Even the young girls already wore hijab in the form of a roosari or chadoor.
After the revolution, all teachers and public sector workers were required to pray together. Behjat left for England and was granted political asylum.
